Rigid Perfume Box Printing
Print Norwood coordinates custom rigid perfume boxes, cylindrical perfume tubes and premium fragrance packaging for brands, retailers, gifting companies and product launches. We support artwork preparation, structural specifications, printed wraps, inserts, premium finishes and delivery throughout South Africa and selected African countries.
Premium Packaging for Perfume and Fragrance Brands
A perfume box does more than protect a bottle. It communicates the quality, personality and price position of the fragrance before the product is opened. Rigid boxes and paper-wrapped cylindrical tubes create a substantial presentation that is suitable for independent perfume brands, corporate gifting, luxury retail, promotional launches and private-label products.
Every packaging project starts with the actual bottle. Width, depth, height, cap, spray pump, shoulders and base must be measured accurately. The box specification must also account for an insert, clearance and manufacturing tolerances. A design based only on an estimated bottle size can lead to movement, pressure on the cap or a product that does not fit.
Rigid Cylindrical Perfume Tubes
Cylindrical perfume packaging normally consists of a strong paperboard tube, a close-fitting lid and a printed or decorative outer wrap. The tube may be straight-sided with a separate lid, telescopic, shoulder-neck style or another construction selected for the product. White, kraft, black or coloured internal finishes may be considered depending on material availability and brand requirements.
Typical projects may require a diameter around the bottle plus insert clearance and a total height that protects the cap. These dimensions must be confirmed from a physical bottle or technical drawing. We do not recommend ordering a bulk run from photographs alone.
Square and Rectangular Rigid Perfume Boxes
Rigid board can also be used for square or rectangular lift-off-lid boxes, book-style magnetic boxes, drawer boxes and hinged presentation packs. These styles offer more room for accessories, information cards, sample vials or branded inserts. The correct format depends on the unboxing experience, retail display, product weight and packing process.
For lighter or more economical retail cartons, consider our custom printed packaging boxes. For protective fluted structures and transport-ready packs, see our corrugated and E-flute box printing.
Foam Inserts and Product Supports
A custom insert holds the perfume bottle in position and reduces movement during handling. Options may include die-cut foam, board platforms, moulded supports or layered constructions. The insert opening should match the bottle body while allowing practical removal by the customer.
The spray cap and pump must be considered separately from the bottle body. A narrow cap still needs safe headroom, and the insert should not transfer pressure to the pump. Send the bottle, cap dimensions and preferred orientation when requesting an insert quotation.
Printing and Decorative Wraps
The outer wrap can carry full-colour graphics, brand patterns, product information and premium typography. Artwork may use solid brand colours, photography, illustrations, metallic effects or minimalist designs. Colour appearance is affected by paper, lamination, coatings and the difference between screen and print reproduction.
Artwork must be prepared on the approved dieline or wrap template. Include bleed, safe areas, seams and lid alignment. Fine details should be tested against the selected finishing process, particularly when foil, embossing or spot UV must align with printed elements.
Premium Finishing Options
Depending on the construction and supplier capability, finishes may include matt lamination, gloss lamination, soft-touch lamination, metallic foil stamping, embossing, debossing, spot UV, textured papers and printed internal components. Premium finishes can strengthen brand recognition, but they also add setup stages and require suitable artwork.
Soft-touch lamination creates a smooth tactile surface, while foil adds controlled metallic emphasis. Embossing raises selected details and debossing presses them into the surface. Spot UV creates a contrast between glossy and matt areas. The best result usually comes from selecting one or two purposeful finishes rather than combining every available effect.
White, Black, Kraft and Custom Colour Options
Colour can be introduced through the outer printed wrap, paper selection, internal liners or inserts. A white presentation feels clean and versatile, black can communicate luxury, and kraft can support a natural or handcrafted position. Custom colours should be matched as closely as the selected printing and material process allows.
If colour consistency is critical, supply brand references and request an appropriate proof or sample process. A digital screen preview cannot guarantee the appearance of printed paper, lamination or foil.
Minimum Order Quantities and Bulk Pricing
Rigid packaging requires board preparation, wrapping, cutting, tooling, printing and manual or semi-automatic assembly. For this reason, minimum quantities are usually higher than simple digital-print products. Some projects may begin around 500 units, but the practical MOQ depends on size, construction, materials, inserts and finishing.
Ask for quantity comparisons such as 500, 1,000 and 2,500 units when planning a launch. Larger volumes can reduce the unit cost because setup and tooling are distributed across more boxes. Sampling, prototypes, freight and premium finishing may be quoted separately.
Information Needed for an Accurate Quotation
- Box shape: cylindrical tube, lift-off lid, drawer or magnetic style
- Internal diameter or length, width and height in millimetres
- Perfume bottle dimensions, weight, cap and pump dimensions
- Required quantity and alternative quantity breaks
- Outer and inner colour preferences
- Printed artwork coverage and number of design variations
- Foam, board or other insert requirements
- Matt, gloss or soft-touch lamination
- Foil, embossing, debossing or spot UV requirements
- Prototype or production sample requirements
- Delivery location and required date
Sampling and Product Fit
A prototype or pre-production sample is valuable when the bottle shape, insert or lid fit is critical. It allows the customer to check dimensions, product removal, lid tension, graphics and general presentation before the full run. The sample may not reproduce every bulk-production process exactly, but it can identify structural problems early.
Where possible, provide a physical bottle. If this is not practical, supply a dimensioned technical drawing and clear photographs. Final approval remains the customer’s responsibility before bulk manufacturing begins.
Artwork Preparation
Supply editable vector artwork or a print-ready PDF built on the approved template. Images should be high resolution, fonts should be embedded or converted properly and critical information must stay inside safe areas. Metallic foil and spot UV layers should be clearly separated and named.

Delivery Across South Africa and Africa
We coordinate projects from Johannesburg for customers across Gauteng, South Africa and selected African markets including Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia, Malawi, Lesotho and Eswatini. Delivery cost depends on the number of cartons, dimensional weight, destination and whether the boxes are supplied assembled.
Rigid cylindrical and presentation boxes occupy significant transport volume because they are normally delivered formed rather than flat. Confirm the delivery location before the final quotation so freight can be planned accurately. Review our delivery information for more guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you make a white cylindrical perfume box?
Yes, subject to confirmed construction, materials, quantity and supplier availability. White can be achieved through the outer wrap and selected internal components.
Can the box include a foam insert?
Yes. The insert must be designed around the actual bottle, including the base, shoulders, cap and required removal clearance.
Can you print different fragrance variants?
Multiple artwork variations can be quoted. Quantities per design and shared production specifications affect pricing.
What is the minimum quantity?
Rigid packaging often starts at commercial quantities such as 500 units, but the actual MOQ depends on structure, size, finish and supplier setup.
Do you deliver outside South Africa?
